Process Request For Organization To Be Added
This service is a multi-step process handling a request for an organization to be added to the PKGOArts directory. Due to the need for verifying information and/or gaining approvals this sequence may be halted at any time, and resumed when appropriate.
Step 1: Verify that the organization is not already in the ArtsOrgDirectory collection. Carefully scroll through the table of organizations previously registered. Check closely in case the name is abbreviated or misspelled. If a duplicate, return by clicking on "Exit" to return to the Pending Requests page, discard the submission by clicking on "Delete Request", then send an appropriate email to the submitter indicating the reason they have been rejected. Note: the organization may be in our directory but invisible to the public because the previous submission was never completed! This is indicated by the "verified" field in the directory, if false, the previous submission is still in limbo.

Step 2: Confirm that the organization actually exists, is credible, and that PKGOArts can provide some value. For example, do a quick search using the name, check for Facebook or Instagram accounts, or and a website. If all else fails, seek help by asking other Arts Commission members if they know of the organization. PKGOArts is social media centric, so social media connections are of great value to us and to the organizations. Maybe there can be an exception if the organization only requests to post on the calendar, be be careful. The comments submitted may provide some hints. If there is any doubt, click "Exit" to return to the Pending Requests page, and bring this submission up at the next Public Arts Commission meeting.

Step 3: Confirm that the supplied Contact information is associated with a living biological entity that is actually associated with the proposed organization. In most cases a search of the organization will turn up a website and the individual will be listed on the website. If necessary you can call the organization to confirm, or call the person. As in Step 2, when in doubt ask around, and if unsuccessful click on "Exit" to return to the Pending Requests page, and bring this submission up at the next Public Arts Commission meeting.

Step 4: If you got this far in the process you were already aware of the organization or you learned something useful about them. Now some judgement is required. Is this the type of organization that we really want to be using the services (e.g. Calendar and Guide) that we provide? The comments submitted may provide some hints. We don't want to become a social media platform for drug dealers or small social groups. Be wary. One case is special - if "The Art League" confirm with another member of the Art League that they have approved a new member. As in previous steps, when in doubt ask around, and if unsuccessful click on "Exit" to return to the Pending Requests page, and bring this submission up at the next Public Arts Commission meeting.

Step 5: And finally, let's add the organization information into the directory. Copy-and-paste the submitted fields in red to the submission panel on the right, then duplicate the appropriate check boxes. This is a good time to make last-minute updates and to get the phone numbers in the correct format. Note: Once the information has been added to the directory the organization will be allowed to change anything they want except the Organization Name and the approved PKGOArts functions, which can only be updated with Admin permissions.
